This is Dean's official 'Midas' record from late 2006 to date.
# A Midas act is the person/band/team that Dean supports during a reality TV show or sports event. This can be done officially (most times it is with the acts full blessing) or non officially, either way, a Midas act is a Midas act and Dean supports them 100% via the media, his writing work with Tellymix and Music News and online.
Dean's Midas Acts have finished in the top 4 or higher 30 times out of 34.
His record includes Thirteen 1st's, Seven 2nd's, Seven 3rd's and Three 4th's.
Please note that Dean makes his 'Midas' pick from the audition stages on shows like X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent and pre-show on Dancing On Ice, Strictly, The Apprentice and Eurovision.
With Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity Dean's 'Midas' pick is made on the launch night of the show.

Dean 'Midas' Maynard
Over the last few years Dean has been asked many questions regarding his work and below are a few examples with his own personal answers.
Q: Can you tell people who may not follow reality shows or your work what you do for a "Midas Act"?
A: As a chosen Midas act, the coverage is 24/7, attention from me via my media and radio outlets. I currently write for Tellymix and Music News and at peak times they can be attracting a good 9 million hits a month between them. You couldn't pay for that kind of coverage.
Q: When did you start making predictions on reality shows, is it something you chose to do or just fell into it by chance?
A: I started making predictions on reality shows in 2006 with the X Factor but I had unofficially been doing it long before that on other shows and sports events. For example when I was nine years old I picked my first Grand National Winner, Aldanti after my dad asked me for a joke who would win...that was in 1981. I continued to “guess” winners who would do well across a wide range of areas, not just sport related.
Q: How do the acts react once you have chosen them as a "Midas Act". Does it give them a confidence boost?
A: The acts I choose to support can see my previous predictions, so having "Midas support" can’t be a bad thing. Previous acts I have supported have put their trust and faith in me and can see what I am all about – very open. If I do give them a small boost of confidence then that is brilliant.
Q: Are your predictions based on how well they do on the Reality shows and the offers of professional work they get or longevity of their careers. How does the 'Midas' process work?
A: First and foremost I look at an act for longevity. An act I can see working long after the show has finished. Niki Evans came 4th in 2007 and is still getting lead roles in the West End and doing better than most of the acts from that year, even the ones that finished above her. It is all about attitude and hard work too. Some of the acts coming through think it will turn them into an overnight sensation but if they turn into a rude and arrogant person then their days are numbered. People have to like them to, so I do also look for 'real' people.
Q: You most famous and successful "Midas Acts" are Leona Lewis and One Direction. How proud are you?
A: I am really proud but at the same time it really puts the pressure on me, year in year on to find someone just as good, if not better than them.
Q: If you looked across all the reality shows you predict on which act do you look back at most and wish they had been a "Midas Act"?
A: If I am totally honest I would have loved Olly Murs to be a Midas act. He is a likeable lad and the kind of person I would love to work with.
Q: You have a good relationship with other X Factor acts who were not, as such Midas Acts. Are they just friends or do you work with them?
A: I see the majority of them as very good friends but most of the time it is totally a professional business working relationship.
Q: I saw the "Cher Lloyd T-Shirt", tell us about your support for Cher Lloyd with her single "Swagger Jagger". Did your support help her get to number 1 in the UK charts?
A: Ha Ha. This is one of the highlights of 2011. I always stuck up for Cher during her time on the X Factor as I thought some of the media coverage she got was very heavy handed, especially when she was such a young girl. I defended her on numerous radio interviews and got right behind her debut single. When it got to number one a number of dj's blamed me for it hitting the top spot and from a handful it turned in to 10, then 20. Then Carol Lee the co-owner of www.force18.co.uk/ in Stevenage made a T shirt blaming me for Cher's number 1. Very funny and at the time it attracted a lot of attention.
Q: You have started your own talent PR company now. Tell us about that? Are the acts going to come straight from the reality shows and right into your PR company?
A: I have managed to get quite a few of my Midas acts on board and I am working on signing more up all the time.
Q: Everyone has heroes, who are yours?
A: Simon Cowell is a person I have a lot of admiration for and if I am honest without him & his shows (X-Factor & Britain's Got Talent) I would be nowhere near where I am today. I also have a lot of respect for David Beckham & Bear Grylls.
Q: It's Your Name 'On The Door' But Do You Have Any Help?
A: I could never do this without the help of some fantastic people. I have the best P.A in the business called Heather Moir whose help, support and hard work is priceless for me. I would also like to thank my web designer Andy Fear, My close friends in the industry who continue to support me including everyone at Telly Mix and Music News. As well as everyone in the press & media who have stayed loyal to me throughout. Thank You. Special thanks to my former PA Debs Moyce who has been a great help over the past few years. To my dear friend Jo who sadly passed away in July 2003 but who told me constantly to go out and "achieve my dream". Jo I know you are looking down on me. Finally my beautiful wife, without her constant support I would not be where I am today, she is my rock and is always there for me.
