In the week building up to Blyth Spartans huge 1st round FA Cup match against League Two Shrewsbury Town Dean advised all the national non league media and websites that he was backing Blyth to cause a huge upset.
This was featured in the national non league paper the Sunday before the game.
On Saturday 8th November and nearly a year to the day since Dean backed Torquay in their shock 4-1 win over Yeovil, Blyth beat Shrewsbury 3-1 in one of the shocks of the round and now face Bournemouth in the 2nd round.
Non League Daily gave Dean's giant killing a mention the day after the match.

Update: December 1st 2008
Blyth's FA Cup 2nd round match away at league two Bournemouth was selected for live tv coverage netting the club an £80,000 windfall.

On Saturday 29th November Harry Dunn's team put up a fantastic team display to earn a 0-0 draw, Goalkeeper Marc Bell pulled off a string of fine saves to secure Blyth a replay and ensure their name was in the hat for the FA Cup third round draw.
The winner of the replay will be at home to premiership Blackburn Rovers in early January 09.

Update & Review: 6th January 2009
On the 5th January at a packed Croft Park Battling Blyth finally bowed out of the FA Cup 1-0 to Premiership Blackburn Rovers.
Croft Park gaffer Harry Dunn says: "I'm so proud of the players, this has been a really fantastic experience for us".
Dean said "What a night and what a journey, before the game I predicted a 1-1 draw and had Andy Wright’s volley crept inside the post with just five minutes remaining I would have got it right again" he continued "I would like to thank Harry Dunn, the team and most importantly general manager Ian Evans, the whole club has welcomed me with open arms and for that I am very grateful."

This is Dean's first ever involvement with I'm a Celebrity and his Midas choice is tennis legend Martina Navratilova.
Martina Navratilova won a record 9 Wimbledon singles championships and was Ranked No. 1 in the world for seven years, she is widely regarded as the best woman tennis player of all time.
Dean said today "This was an easy choice for me, I grew up watching Martina win wimbledon after wimbledon, she is a legend and it's an honour to back her."

Martina went onto finish in 2nd place behind Joe Swash. Dean said "when I announced I was backing Martina at the start of the show no one gave me a chance so I am over the moon that she finished in 2nd place."

Last year Dean predicted Suzanne Shaw would win the 2008 series of Dancing On Ice and as the 2009 series approaches his Midas act for 2009 is Jessica Taylor.
Dean said "I am very confident that Jessica will make the final and hopefully make it a Midas double for me on Dancing On Ice."

On Sunday March 15th Dean's Midas act Jessica Taylor reached the Final of Dancing on Ice just as he had predicted in early January.

After 5 previous unsuccessful attempts Reading born Kate Winslet hopes to make it 6th time lucky with "The Reader" and Dean will be backing her all the way.
Dean said today "I am putting my full backing towards Kate (Winslet) and I will do all I can to help her achieve her deserved dream of Oscar glory" he continued "We were both born in the great town of Reading and although are careers have taken us away from the area part of me, as I am sure Kate will say will always be in Reading"

After 13 years and 5 previous nominations Kate Winslet finally got the Oscar she has deserved for her role in the Reader.
